Session Description:
This session will help educate buyers to make good decisions that will help reduce waste and make the world a much better place. The definition of sustainability is: “the ability to continue or be continued for a long time and the use of natural products and energy in a way that does not harm the environment.” When we think of sustainability in these terms, it tends to move us to observe things differently. We will review a process which will provide a long-term, greener outlook on businesses, helping future generations live more comfortably. In this session, we will examine the methodology of buying with the 4 W’s to identify sustainable products. Discussions in this session include-- Fast Fashion and when it makes sense; the importance of “quality over quantity”; how products are made and how to make sure they are produced ethically. There will be conversation on how to run a green business and what that means to you. Special focus will be given to who is doing this well and how we can follow in their footsteps.
