Session Description: If you could start over again, how would you change your Retail presence, and its positioning within your institution? Christine Kostyrka was given that opportunity in 2019 when she was hired as the 3rd Philadelphia Museum of Art Retail Director in just over 30 years to re-imagine the merchandising vision for this historic institution during a time of great expansion, and great change. With three brand-new planned stores and a website badly in need of a re-boot, she led a team of merchants through the pandemic to re-evaluate what Retail stores can mean to a cultural institution, and how infusing independent makers in the process helps to define the brand, while supporting the diverse, local creative community.
