Presenters: Phil Zuckerman, Publisher, Applewood Books Kate Schureman, VP of Administration & COO, Peoria Riverfront Museum
Knowledge Standards:
Financial Management, Operations, Strategic Management, Merchandise Planning, Human Resources

Session Description: This session looks at the important questions of, What are Key Performance Indicators? How do I use them to assess the financial health of my store? It will also be diving into the questions of, how do I measure the unmeasurable? How can I best use KPIs when I report to my boss? Phil Zuckerman, Founder & President of Applewood Books, MSA Vendor, and 46-year veteran of the museum store industry will look at the KPIs that are part of the MSA's Knowledge Standards for any museum store and describe how to use them to measure success and weakness. Kate Schureman, MSA Board Treasurer, and 25-year museum veteran will look at how to develop a Balanced Scorecard that can help better communicate your KPIs to your Executive Director/President & CEO. You are encouraged to bring your boss to help learn about the tales your KPIs are telling, and how your store is actually one of the main characters in the full story of your museum.
